Winter Skincare
From Jane Reiman, Independent Consultant, Nutrimetics
High in the Himalayas in the Hunza valley the winters are extreme and yet the people who live there have incredible skins. Skins of 100 years old look like our 60 year old skins.
Their secret? The oil extracted from the Apricot Kernel. How does this work?.
Apricot kernel oil is rich in Vitamin A, C and E anti oxidants which fight free radicals thus reducing damage. It also contains Retinyl palmitate - a form of Retin A which is clinically proven to delay the signs of ageing.
Apricot Kernel oil was the basis of the first Nutrimetics formulation and over the last 40 years the range of skincare, cosmetics, bodycare, suncare etc has been developed on the basis of using only pure, natural ingredients formulated from the very foods we eat. NUTRI-METICS (nutritional cosmetics).
We are fast approaching winter. The weather is one of our skin's worst enemies, particularly in winter when the cold winds and central heating take their toll.
The skin serves as a shield. It is designed to protect delicate tissues from bacteria, harmful chemicals, damaging sunlight and other environmental hazards. Two of the most important factors in winter skincare are keeping your skin ph balanced and keeping it well nourished and moisturised.
Make sure your cleanser and toner are ph balanced to keep your acid mantle intact to protect your skin from the damaging ravages of the winter weather and central heating.
Nutrimetics can offer the Heritage Range based on apricot kernel oil for normal, dry and combination skins. The Sensitive range is based on cactus and cucumber, dermatologically tested in a UK hospital on extreme sensitivities such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis.
The Restore anti ageing range, with its unique formulation ,bio-phytox, a patented natural ingredient enriched with Hibiscus plant derivatives, is clinically proven to delay the signs of ageing and reduce lines and wrinkles. Nutrimetics also offers the Clear range based on Aloe Vera and Tea Tree for the more oily combination and problem skins.
Beware of using products containing petrochemicals and mineral oil as they can dehydrate the skin and block precious moisture and nourishment entering the lower layers of the skin.
All Nutrimetics skincare ranges are ph balanced and free from petrochemicals, mineral oil and animal cruelty.
TOP TO TOE WINTER REVIVAL TREATMENT
Step One
Begin by cleansing your face with the cleanser of your choice. Gently massage in an upwards and outwards direction and rinse with warm water.
Step Two
Take a shower, rinse your hair and massage in the Nutrimetics essentials natural hair cleanser. When finished, rinse thoroughly and apply the Nutrimetics intensive treatment cream masque - like a facial for your hair.
Step Three
While the hair masque is penetrating, exfoliate your face gently with either the Honey and Almond scrub or the Restore anti -ageing exfoliating gel and rinse off with tepid water. Do the same to your body using the Nutrimetics Aquaspa seaweed body polish. Then thoroughly rinse off the hair masque and body polish.
Step Four
Towel dry your hair and apply the essentials phyto-active reconstructing complex, shine revitalising spray - leave in conditioner.
Tone your face with the complimentary toner of your choice to restore the ph balance to your skin and keep the acid mantle in tact.
For a real winter boost to your skin apply the Ultra Care Moisturising system. The moisturising system brings moisture to the deepest cell layers via Evening Primrose oil liposomes which help to restore the natural cell renewal process. It also contains sodium hyaluronate which replenishes the skin's moisture stores and creates a more moist environment by binding the moisture in longer. Natural anti-oxidants such as Echinacea, Ginseng and Gingko Biloba also contained in the Moisturising system, create a protective barrier against further skin damage caused by daily environmental pollutants.
Step Five
Treat your skin to a rich Restore intense masque containing liposomes with apple extract and soya bean to help retain the skins elasticity together with macadamia nut oil to moisturise and smooth skin and natural vitamin E from wheat germ. While the masque is working its way into the skin apply the botanicals cucumber eye gel with cotton pads on each eye to tone and tighten the delicate eye area and help reduce dark circles and puffiness.
Step Six
Rinse off the masque, tone and apply the moisturiser of your choice. Choose from the extra light, medium or intense formulation.
Massage a body lotion all over your body to moisturise and soften the skin choosing from the ever popular Apricot Body Dew or the conditioning Aquaspa Body Veil, containing brown and red seaweed and sea fennel, containing vitamin C and essential oils which help soothe dehydrated skin keeping it soft and supple.
As a daily boost to your skin throughout the winter every night apply the Nutrimetics apricot oil. Nutri Rich oil. Containing 45.7% pure hunza apricot oil, packed with Vitamins A, C and E to keep your skin protected and nourished throughout the winter months.
